A Vocational Program Rooted in the St. Thomas Community

Our Story

The Marine Vocational Program, Inc. was founded in 2014 by the late Captain Jimmy Loveland. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit program to prepare youths ages 8-18 for careers in the marine and tourism industry.

We began with a ‘Learn to Swim’ training program that was offered free of charge to students in St. Thomas. As community interest grew, several boats were donated to the program which allowed us to expand the training curriculum to cover full boat handling skills. The program has grown to now include engine mechanics, global navigation, hospitality, diving certification, and more!

We offer this program free of charge to all students to align with our mission of giving St. Thomas youths a viable career path in the marine and hospitality industries.
